Laura Sutter is the newest addition to our work team here at East Hill Creamery. She will be taking on the role of marketing, sales, and education for us as our company continues to grow. With a background in the culinary arts and strong education in the “cheese world”, she is a local talent we are appreciative to have!
Hailing from York, NY – Laura is familiar and passionate about the Western NY area. After high school, she moved to Philadelphia to attend the Art Institute of Philadelphia to study Culinary Arts. She began working in high-end restaurants in the Philly area, and her passion for all things cheese began to grow. One summer, Laura and her father decided to take a motorcycle trip through Vermont, visiting many creameries along the way. She learned about the varying styles of cheese making that was occurring in the Northeast, and this inspired her to really want to push her towards a career in cheese.
This led Laura to apply for work at Murray’s Cheese based in NYC. If you are unfamiliar with Murray’s, think of it as the pinnacle of cheese shops. You may find national and global cheese offerings at Murray’s, as well as continuing education for the cheese lover. Laura worked for Murray’s for two years, and during this time she seized every opportunity to educate herself further on different cheese making styles, history, and techniques.
Looking to move back closer to home, Laura was working as a sous chef at the Dapper Goose (in Buffalo) but couldn't resist the opportunity to get back into cheese in the Western NY region. An avid traveler, Laura brings enthusiasm to her work. She is looking forward to meeting the public at future events, markets, and at the creamery. We are excited to have such a knowledgeable person on our staff, and look forward to you meeting her as well!
Join us in welcoming Laura to our East Hill Creamery Team!
